Tours San Jose Costa Rica - Tips For Deciding Which Tours And Activities To Choose In Costa Rica
By admin | January 12, 2008
Lately, many people have asked me about what kind of activities they can do on the places their staying. Going to restaurants, bars, or more extreme stuff like canopy or white water rafting, you really want to know what to do so you can plan ahead.
First get the area you are staying, and check what’s near on a map. For example, if you are staying in Jaco, you have Manuel Antonio Park near, Damas mangrove and so on.
Obviously if you’ve never been to the place you won’t know the places around, so check hotel pages, they will usually provide on their tours page important information, such as tour companies, names of near by places, prices, etc. Compare different ones so you can have an idea of how much it costs, avoiding any rip off.
All decent hotels have tour desks, were you will find any info on activities, including parties. If the hotel you chose doesn’t, try local information centers, there are plenty on each tourist town.
On any search engine, the best way to find info is by checking “COSTA RICA”+”TOURS”+”THE NAME OF THE PLACE”. There are a few very big tour companies that control most of the market, so they have very accurate pages, with tons of info on what to do in most parts of the country. The prizes won’t vary that much from on zone to the other. Also, there are main regions in tourism that you can check. We have North Pacific, Central Pacific, South Pacific, Central Valley, Northern Area and Caribbean. About the tour companies, my favorite is Iguana Tours Costa Rica, try checking that one; they have prices, detailed descriptions on tours and some of the best prices around.
Finally, if you are looking for food, or parties, try local bartenders on the bars, or the waitress from the hotel, from my experience, they know most of the places that you should visit and with a small tip they can even guide you to the really cool places such as Manuel Antonio, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Jaco.
I will try to get more details of each main spot here, so be ready for next time.
Thanks a lot, hope to hear from you soon.
